When making a purchase through Wert, you may be asked to provide your wallet address.
It is a unique string of letters and numbers used to direct your crypto, with the format depending on the blockchain. Each blockchain network (like Ethereum or Polygon) uses different address formats — make sure you're using the correct one for the asset you're buying.
A wallet address might look like this:
0x12ab34cd56ef... (for Ethereum-based tokens)
It’s generated by your crypto wallet app, such as MetaMask, Trust Wallet, or Coinbase Wallet.
Your wallet address is connected to your wallet app — but it's not locked into just one app. As long as you have the recovery phrase or private key, you can use that same wallet address in different apps to access your crypto.
Even though it might feel like the crypto “lives” in your wallet, the coins actually stay on the blockchain — the wallet just lets you view and manage them.
How to find your wallet address?
Open your crypto wallet app (e.g. MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet).
Tap the button labeled “Receive”.
You’ll see your wallet address — copy and paste it into the required field when making your purchase.
In some wallets, there is an option to copy your wallet address right from the wallet app's main page.
If you’ve already completed a purchase and want to double-check which address was used, you can find this information in your Wert receipt (we email it to you after the purchase).
For example, if you bought tokens on the Ethereum network, look for the line labeled "Ethereum wallet address" — this shows exactly where your crypto was sent.
Does Wert create a wallet for me?
No — Wert does not create or store crypto wallets for users.
We do not hold your funds or manage your wallet in any way. Our role is to process the payment and send the crypto to the wallet address provided during checkout.
However, during the purchase process, some partner platforms may offer to create a wallet for you, especially if you don’t have one connected at the time. This is done through third-party services integrated into the partner's interface — not by Wert.
If that happens, your new wallet address is typically created during checkout and used for the transaction. You’ll need to access that wallet through the app or service that generated it.
Can someone steal my funds if they have my wallet address?
No — your wallet address is safe to share, just like a bank account number.
It can only be used to send funds to you, but no one can access your wallet or manage your assets using just the address.
👉 However, it’s critical to protect your private key and recovery (seed) phrase. These are what grant full control over your wallet. If someone gains access to them, they can transfer your funds out — no additional permissions are required.
So while sharing your wallet address is safe, never share your private keys or a seed phrase with anyone.
